Job Summary

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a skilled scrub practitioner to join our theatre team at Darlington Memorial Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scrub practitioner to provide high-quality patient care within the perioperative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing care needs, developing programmes of care, and implementing and evaluating these programmes without direct supervision.

The post involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide patient care across a range of specialties, including routine and emergency surgery. You will be expected to maintain high standards of patient care, adhere to local and national policies, procedures, and guidelines, and contribute to the development of the trust's Behaviours Framework.

You will have existing experience as a scrub practitioner and hold relevant qualifications, such as registration with the NMC or HCPC. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality care are essential requirements for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the monitoring of standards of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  2. Provide expert knowledge of all clinical specialities and act as a role model.
  3. Contribute to audit and monitoring accurate documentation in accordance with Trust policy, NMC, and HPC guidelines.
  4. Facilitate an emergency service covering all specialties provided within the department.
  5. Ensure the safe administration of drugs in accordance with Trust Policy, NMC, and HPC guidelines.
  6. Ensure that all procedures and techniques are carried out in accordance with local competencies and agreed policies and standards.
  7. Protect patients' rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  8. Act as patients' advocate in all matters relating to their care, treatment, and welfare.
