Role Overview
Devon County Council is seeking an experienced finance professional to join its Audit Committee as a Co-opted Independent Member. This prestigious role provides an opportunity to contribute to the council's governance framework and play a key part in ensuring the effective management of public finances.

Salary Information
The estimated salary for this role is £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role
The successful candidate will have a professional audit/accountancy/finance/business management background and be able to interpret and analyse numerical data with a view to asking probing questions to reach rational conclusions. They will also be expected to provide independent assurance on the adequacy of the risk management framework, the internal control environment, and the integrity of the financial reporting and governance processes.

Requirements
Key requirements for the role include having a proven history of financial expertise, being able to think critically and strategically, and possessing excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
