Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead to join our inpatient hospital team for adults with eating disorders in High Wycombe. The successful candidate will be a strong clinician and leader who can provide expert nursing care and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the hospital strategy, providing operational and clinical leadership to the team.
- Deputise for the Hospital Director in their absence.
- Overall responsibility for all clinical departments' performance and governance.
- Act as a highly visible role model, mentor and leader, creating a culture that promotes learning, development, inquiry and professionalism.
- Manage the delivery of the clinical services business plan, ensuring the effective and efficient management and control of staffing, budgets, materials and equipment.
- Promote an effective working relationship across the multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure relevant staff work within the standards and frameworks of professional codes of conduct.
- Carry out on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director.
- Ensure site objectives are being met and encouraging a high quality of service.
Staff Management
- Manage the ward and resources effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix are in place.
- Review staffing on a daily basis, ensuring compliance against the staffing ladders and reviews trends, under or over staffing and puts in place actions to remedy.
- Ensure all members of the nursing team receive clinical supervision, complete mandatory training, appraisal, and have opportunities to further develop their careers.
- Recognise and reward positive performance by the nursing staff.
- Manage and develop a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
- Ensure effective management of the relationship with Higher Education Institutes to support placements for all learners.
Regulation and Compliance
- Work in conjunction with the Hospital Director to ensure delivery of the highest level of clinical and therapeutic care, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation.
- Accountable for ensuring timely completion and implementation of action plans in respect of regulatory and corporate requirements.
Clinical Governance
- Provide leadership, organisation and co-ordination to ensure effective clinical governance.
- Responsible for the implementation of effective clinical interventions and ensures that treatment is designed to enhance the operation and quality of clinical services.
- Ensure that Incident reporting is completed promptly and takes corrective action where required.
- Lead Team reviews of incidents, making sure that staff receive incident debriefs in a timely way.
- Deliver coaching and training as necessary in relation to developing and improving quality and practice.
- Contribute to the development of Priory policies, procedures, processes and initiatives.
Requirements
- Professional NMC registration.
- Strong clinical experience in ED and evidence of continuing professional development.
- A detailed understanding of statutory regulations.
- Possess a passion for providing high quality care and continuous improvement.
- Experience devising and undertaking quality improvement projects and evidence-based evidence.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
- Forward thinking, proactive and creative.
- The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment.
- High levels of integrity and boundaries.
