About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Support Specialist to join our team at BARNARDO'S. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to make a positive impact in the lives of young people with disabilities.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide support to young people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties aged 0-25 years and their families across East Riding. This will involve working on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis within the community or in the home, mainly on weekends/evenings/during school holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals involved in the care of the young person.
  • Meet medical, physical, emotional, and personal needs of the young people.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to engage with children, young people, and families from different backgrounds.
  • Awareness of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults.
