Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Outreach Practitioner for Children and Families to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing bereavement support services across Edinburgh and the Forth Valley, working closely with our team to ensure the highest quality of support for families and professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Development: Work with the Bereavement Support Service Lead to develop and establish our service as a trusted source of advice and support for families and professionals.
  • Casework: Manage a caseload and provide individual and couple sessions, as well as facilitate groups for parents bereaved of a baby or child.
  • Programme Delivery: Contribute to the delivery of a programme of individual and family support sessions, groups for families, and school liaison.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Develop and maintain relationships with diverse organisations and community groups to promote inclusivity and engagement.
  • Volunteer Support: Support the Bereavement Support Service Lead in selecting, training, and supporting volunteers for the Bereavement Service.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised health, social care, or counselling qualification.
  • Experience in working with children, young people, and families.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for supporting bereaved families and those whose roles bring them into contact with these families.
