Job Title: Cost Manager (Mechanical & Electrical)

Cobalt Consulting (UK) Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Cost Manager to join our team on a large mixed-use project in East London. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of the project, with a focus on Mechanical & Electrical packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of the project's commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with the client's objectives.
  2. Manage the preparation and submission of commercial documents, including tenders, contracts, and change orders.
  3. Collaborate with the project team to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting, including progress payments and final accounts.
  4. Conduct commercial evaluations of tenders, including meetings and supplemental bid documentation.
  5. Liaise with contractors and client representatives to ensure instructions are raised and acted upon, costs are received and agreed, and change orders are issued.
  6. Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the contract duration.
  7. Assist in the inspection of trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective.
  8. Prepare interim valuations for progress payments and negotiate final accounts.
  9. Project cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
  10. Analysis of final accounts to provide information for cost planning purposes.
  11. Assist with the preparation of insurance claim documentation.

Requirements:

  1. Quantity Surveying practical work experience, ideally on large commercial and/or residential projects working on Mechanical & Electrical packages.
  2. A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
  3. Computer Literacy is an essential requirement of this role.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain strong working relationships with the project team and stakeholders.
