About the Role

Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is seeking a skilled Premises Assistant to join its facilities management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of school premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the provision of a caretaking service, ensuring the school premises are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Implement planned and reactive maintenance, adhering to the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plan and collaborating with the Helpdesk and Line Manager.
  • Monitor and report any deficiencies in cleanliness, furnishings, and equipment to the Line Manager and Helpdesk.
  • Manage CoSHH onsite, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Operate the heating plant, maintaining required temperatures and ensuring an adequate supply of hot water.
  • Support the school in emergency situations, such as fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident, or major damage.
  • Carry out first-line investigation and repairs, collaborating with the Line Manager and Helpdesk.
  • Ensure the site is free from litter and drains and gullies are clear.
  • Take delivery of stores, materials, and goods, conveying them to their points of distribution.
  • Comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Monitor utility meter readings and ensure caretaking equipment is in good working condition.
  • Prepare the school premises and site for assemblies, meetings, and out-of-school activities.
  • Carry out routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds, responding to calls outside normal working hours.
  • Provide access to premises and classrooms in emergency situations.
  • Assist with facilitating day-to-day management of subcontractor activity on site.
  • Ensure safe access and egress on school grounds during inclement weather.
  • Be available for evening/weekend lettings and school events, with flexibility to cover occasional lettings.
