Job Title: Plant Operations Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Operations Engineer to join our team at a well-established sustainable energy organisation based in the Birmingham area. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing large scale district energy schemes and ensuring the efficient operation of our energy assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of industrial equipment, including control panels.
  2. Work as a team member or alone to complete scheduled maintenance and remedial actions.
  3. Observe safety procedures and meet electrical codes.
  4. Perform quality testing and inspections.
  5. Ensure the maintenance of our organisation's operating systems and reporting platforms.
  6. Review and operate assets to fulfil both efficiency and availability of BDEC assets.
  7. Participate in a 1 week in every 4 standby call-out rota.
  8. Plan and review 'Pirana' for Statutory, PPM, and reactive works.
  9. Complete relevant paperwork and report diligently through our PC-based Asset Management Application.

Requirements:

  1. A recognised City and Guilds Electrical qualification (industrial and commercial), Journeyman experience, and/or completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
  2. Empirical Electrical knowledge/skills in remedial and statutory maintenance.
  3. Experience of working on LTHW boiler systems and their statute maintenance regimes.
  4. Extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations.
  5. Knowledge of water treatment systems and their controlled uses would offer a distinct advantage, as this role requires weekly water condition testing for cooling towers.
