Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a key member of the General Medicine Consultant team, providing high-quality care to patients within the trust and contributing to the further development of the service.

Key Duties:

  • To provide rapid assessment and management of general medical patients.
  • To stabilise and manage patients admitted with medical emergencies.
  • To carry out post-take ward rounds during the week.
  • To maintain effective communication and handover to the on-call team.
  • To develop emergency services, liaising with other departments.
  • To participate in the weekend General Medical on-call rota.

Organisational Responsibilities:

  • To teach and train junior staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • To act as clinical/educational supervisor to locally employed doctors.
  • To participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
  • To provide leadership and support for the effective development of the service.
  • To ensure active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
