About the Role

The Wallace Collection is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian to join its team. As a key member of the Curatorial Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and day-to-day running of the library.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reader services to internal and external users, including researchers, students, and members of the public.
  • Manage the cataloguing of new acquisitions to the library's collection, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Maintain the library's collections, including books, periodicals, and online resources.
  • Manage the library budget, working closely with the Director of Finance to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in library and information management, applying best practices to improve services and collections.
  • Acquire and catalog library materials, liaising with the Director of Collections and Research to develop the library's collections.
  • Maintain and supervise the rare book collection, ensuring regular audits and necessary repairs are carried out.
Requirements
  • Experience of working as a Librarian or in a similar role, preferably in a museum or heritage organization.
  • Proficiency in cataloguing complex collections using automated systems and standard business software.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work accurately and independently.
  • A flexible approach and ability to work as part of a team.
