Job Opportunity: Catering Tutor at HMP Peterborough

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Catering Tutor to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Catering Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English and develop their culinary skills.

About the Role

As a Catering Tutor, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their culinary skills qualification. You will work closely with prisoners to identify their learning needs and develop personalized learning plans. You will also be responsible for monitoring attendance, achievement, and progression of learning, and challenging any negative behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their culinary skills qualification
  • Work closely with prisoners to identify their learning needs and develop personalized learning plans
  • Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression of learning
  • Challenge any negative behaviors and increase prisoners' self-esteem through a self-directed learning/teaching style
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role. You will also need to be qualified in level 3 hospitality and catering or equivalent, with experience of delivering catering courses. Additionally, you will need to have a food safety and in-date level 3 food hygiene certificate, and an interest in the rehabilitation of offenders.
