Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Catering Tutor to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Catering Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English and develop their culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their culinary skills qualification
  • Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression of learning, while challenging negative behaviors and increasing prisoners' self-esteem
  • Work with prisoners who may have undiagnosed learning difficulties and neurodivergence, providing tailored support and guidance
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Contribute to the development of a rehabilitation-focused culture within the prison
Requirements
  • Teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role
  • Qualified in level 3 hospitality and catering or equivalent, with experience of delivering catering courses
  • Food safety and in-date level 3 food hygiene certificate
  • Interest in the rehabilitation of offenders
  • Flexible and responsive attitude
  • Will to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation
  • Proactive, dynamic, and positive approach
