Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Catering Instructor to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Catering Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement activities and courses to enhance prisoners' culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression of learning, while challenging negative behaviors and increasing prisoners' self-esteem.
  • Work with prisoners who may have undiagnosed learning difficulties and neurodivergence, providing tailored support to help them overcome challenges and build confidence in education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters a culture of rehabilitation and personal growth.
  • Develop and maintain learner files, ensuring accurate records of progress and achievement.
Requirements
  • Working towards or achieved a teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role.
  • Qualified in level 3 hospitality and catering or equivalent, with experience of delivering catering courses.
  • Food safety and in-date level 3 food hygiene certificate.
  • Interest in the rehabilitation of offenders.
  • Flexible and responsive attitude.
  • Willingness to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Proactive, dynamic, and positive at all times.
