Library Assistant

The University of London is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join our team. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the organization and accessibility of our library collections.
Responsibilities will include shelving and tidying in assigned areas, answering basic enquiries from library users, assisting in moving loaded trolleys to the appropriate areas, labeling new acquisitions, and participating in certain aspects of ongoing conservation activities and promotion of library collections.
You will also assist on library desk duties and in other areas as they arise. This post requires lifting, bending, and pushing loaded trolleys from sometimes dusty areas.
Candidates must be able to work 17.5 FTE hours a week. Hours to be arranged and to coordinate with the other library assistant's timetable.
RequirementsAttention to detail is essential for this role, as you will need to learn the complexities of library classification schemes and file books according to the system.
A pleasant and helpful manner when dealing with users of the library and good communication skills are also essential, as is the ability to learn to use library software.
