Child Mental Health Specialist

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Child Mental Health Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the hospital, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to children and young people with eating disorders. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated specialist pathways to patients and their families.
You will work as part of a dynamic team on the acute paediatric ward, providing care planning and delivery for in-patients and out-patients under the management of the Band 7 mental health liaison nurse and clinical guidance of the ED service and ward paediatricians and local CAMHS services. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
Key responsibilities include participating in weekly MDT meetings, attending regular ED team meetings, and attending occasional CAMHS clinics as workload allows. You will also attend MDT ED Clinics as part of the MDT, reviewing patients as part of the team, under the guidance of the lead Paediatricians and with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) input. Additionally, you will provide Nurse Led Clinics, under the guidance of the lead Paediatricians and with CAMHS input, offering support and regular monitoring for lower risk ED patients.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with North Devon team and other regional hospital trusts to ensure evidence-based best practice. You will also engage in local and national networks to stay updated with ED/ MH knowledge and skills through attending relevant courses and study sessions.
