The Office for National Statistics is the UK's largest producer of official statistics, covering a wide range of key economic, social and demographic topics. Job OverviewWe're looking for individuals who have a friendly, outgoing personality and the confidence to approach and converse with a wide selection of people either via phone or face-to-face. As a Field Interviewer, you'll be helping to inform Government about the state of the nation by carrying out official surveys.
This role will involve visiting sampled addresses to collect household contact information and encouraging respondents to complete surveys online or over the phone. You'll also be interviewing respondents in their homes, working across mornings, afternoons, and evenings, with flexibility to work on Saturdays if required.
About the Role- You'll need to transport and carry equipment such as laptops and survey materials with you, occasionally walking between addresses and navigating stairs when out in the field.
- You'll work approximately within 40 miles from the advertised location.
- Interviews will need to be conducted between the hours of 09:00 – 20:00. Hours will need to be split evenly across mornings, afternoons, and evenings, with flexibility to work on Saturdays if required.
- Experience of using a laptop and smartphone is essential.
- You'll be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and happy to work without supervision.
- You'll have excellent verbal communication skills and enjoy meeting and talking to people.
- Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service eligibility rules.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check: Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check. The requirement for SC clearance is to have been present in the UK for 3 consecutive years immediately prior to applying.
- Full valid UK Driving License (inclusive of the rights of EU Nationals).
- Full use of a car for work purposes including business use (if offered a post).
- Proof of Identity.
- Have a broadband internet connection at your home address prior to taking up an offer of employment.
The salary for this role is £13,496 per annum. Alongside your salary, Office for National Statistics contributes £3,909 towards being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
