Financial Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to join the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. As a key member of the DPIR Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for the financial operations of the department, which has an annual turnover of over £20m.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure effective and resilient financial processes and controls that are compliant with institutional and broader financial regulations.
- Take the lead role in financial planning activities, particularly budget setting, forecasting, and scenario modelling.
- Manage a changing portfolio of projects and lead a small team of finance staff.
You will have strong accounting knowledge, evidenced by a full or partial professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA), supplemented by broad-based, relevant post-qualification accounting experience. As a skilled finance professional, you will have significant experience working in finance roles, preferably in a large, complex accounting environment, with proven skills in financial planning, reporting, and project accounting.
You will have effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues. This will include skills and experience in managing staff. In addition, you will have proven leadership, management, and technical accounting skills. Experience of working in the Higher Education sector in a research-intensive organisation is desirable.
