Financial Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to join our team at the University of Oxford. As a key member of the Department of Politics and International Relations, you will be responsible for the financial operations of the department, ensuring effective and resilient financial processes and controls.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, evidenced by a full or partial professional accounting qualification, supplemented by broad-based, relevant post-qualification accounting experience. You will have significant experience working in finance roles, preferably in a large, complex accounting environment, with proven skills in financial planning, reporting, and project accounting.
You will have effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues. This will include skills and experience in managing staff. In addition, you will have proven leadership, management, and technical accounting skills. Experience of working in the Higher Education sector in a research-intensive organisation is desirable.
About You
We are looking for a skilled finance professional who can take the lead role in financial planning activities, particularly budget setting, forecasting, and scenario modelling. You will have a strong understanding of financial regulations and be able to ensure compliance with institutional and broader financial regulations.
You will be responsible for managing a changing portfolio of projects and ensuring effective financial processes and controls. You will also have experience of working in a team environment and be able to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
