Job Title: Senior Health Physicist - Submarines

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Health Physicist to join our Radiation Protection team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our nuclear licensed sites at Raynesway within the Core Manufacture business unit.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with ionising radiation and nuclear licensed site experience. You will be responsible for providing practical and technical advice to all levels of the business to maintain compliance with statutory legislation and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as radiation protection lead for nuclear new build projects and decommissioning
  • Provide radiation risk assessments and support the implementation of effective risk management controls
  • Critically review, analyse and summarise data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Identify, implement and monitor appropriate radiological protection measures to ensure work is carried out safely and in line with best practice
  • Develop and deliver specialist radiation protection training as required
Requirements:
  • Previous experience of working with ionising radiation and nuclear licensed site experience
  • Radioactive waste management
  • Decommissioning
  • Control of radioactive substances (sealed and unsealed)
  • Dosimetry (internal and external)
  • Instrumentation
  • Radiological protection risk assessment
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record of achieving results with minimal supervision
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal communications and report writing skills
  • Holder of a current RPA 2000 certificate of competence or an experienced professional in Health Physics including operational support and advising on compliance with current legislation and working towards RPA accreditation
