Job Title: Senior Health Physicist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Health Physicist to join our Radiation Protection team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our nuclear licensed sites at Raynesway within the Core Manufacture business unit.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in radiation protection and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for providing technical advice to all levels of the business, undertaking radiation risk assessments, and implementing effective risk management controls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide practical and technical advice to maintain compliance with statutory legislation and industry best practice
  • Undertake radiation risk assessments and support the implementation of effective risk management controls
  • Critically review, analyse and summarise data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Identify, implement and monitor appropriate radiological protection measures to ensure work is carried out safely and in line with best practice
  • Develop and deliver specialist radiation protection training, as required
Requirements:
  • Previous experience of working with ionising radiation and Nuclear Licensed Site experience
  • Radioactive Waste Management
  • Decommissioning
  • Control of radioactive substances (sealed and unsealed)
  • Dosimetry (internal and external)
  • Instrumentation
  • Radiological protection risk assessment
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record of achieving results with minimal supervision
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal communications and report writing skills
  • Holder of a current RPA 2000 certificate of competence OR an experienced professional in Health Physics including operational support and advising on compliance with current legislation and working towards RPA accreditation
