We are seeking a dedicated Lead Technical Specialist in Radiological Consequences to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves collaborating with design, performance, and safety experts to analyze the radiological implications of reactor plant designs. The ideal candidate will establish a comprehensive strategy that aligns with design advancements and the Generic Design Assessment regulatory framework.

As a leader, you will cultivate a skilled team to develop and validate analytical methods utilizing industry-standard tools and techniques.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development of radiological consequence analyses for both design basis and severe accident scenarios, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and standards.
  • Utilize your technical expertise to steer the radiological analysis program, including defining analysis parameters and supervising supporting analysts.
  • Ensure requirement traceability from design through to analysis and method validation.

Candidate Profile:
  • Degree qualified in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer/Physicist with experience leading complex thermal hydraulic analysis projects.
  • Proven experience in severe accident consequence analysis within the nuclear sector.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear reactor systems and relevant design codes.

Expertise in Radiological Analysis:
  • Proficient in numerical tools and software.
  • Experience in atmospheric dispersion analysis and public dose assessments.
  • Knowledgeable about radiation health effects and risk quantification.
  • Familiar with the ICRP radiation protection framework and modern computational methods.

Nuclear Safety Analysis:
  • Experience with probabilistic safety assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of design basis fault assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with UK Safety Case and regulatory practices.
  • Understanding of severe accident phenomena and analysis methods.

Project Management Skills:
  • Ability to define and manage project workstreams.
  • Deliver project milestones within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Proficient in risk management and progress monitoring.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
