Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our team at The University of Edinburgh. As a key member of our culinary team, you will assist the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team to deliver exceptional food experiences to our students, staff, and external guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Lead a team of cooks and kitchen assistants to ensure efficient food delivery and high-quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our food offer and customer preferences.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service delivery during peak periods.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume catering environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and presentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of flexibility.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
