Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom Beach Baker Full time
Job Description

Senior Chartered Development Surveyor

Salary: £38,119.27 - £56,563.96, depending on experience

Beach Baker is proud to be working alongside South West Norse, a leading national property consultancy known for delivering high-profile and inspiring professional property services to a diverse range of public and private sector clients.

South West Norse is currently seeking a Chartered Development Surveyor to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Part-time may be considered for the right candidate. This role involves adding value to client assets by identifying and securing planning consents for development.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Development Surveyor, your main duties will include:

  • Identifying, promoting, and delivering the development potential of surplus and potentially surplus assets, adding significant value before sale to generate essential capital receipts.

  • Taking a hands-on approach to leading public consultation exercises, drafting planning applications, design and access statements, feasibility reports, and viability appraisals.

  • Representing clients at planning committee meetings and appeals, and negotiating and agreeing S.106 Agreements.

  • Being actively involved in all aspects of the development process, not just project management and coordination.

Ideal Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role, supported by:

  • Post-qualification experience (PQE) as a Development Surveyor.

  • Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a Real Estates discipline.

  • Experience in planning and development surveying, with a strong background in producing viability appraisals.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant planning legislation and familiarity with the Local Plans for the region.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.

  • The ability to work independently with minimal support, as well as collaboratively within a large multi-disciplinary team.

  • A full UK Driving Licence to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • RICS fees paid
  • Fully supported and funded CPD requirements
  • Sickness and pension schemes
  • Free parking at the office
  • Agile and flexible working arrangements

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning and development surveying, with a proven track record of delivering high-profile projects. They will be a skilled communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels, and have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant planning legislation.

What We Offer:

Beach Baker is committed to providing a supportive and collaborative work environment, with opportunities for professional development and growth. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including RICS fees paid and fully supported and funded CPD requirements.

How to Apply:

If you are an experienced Development Surveyor looking to make a significant impact within a forward-thinking consultancy, we would love to hear from you.
