Head of Tax Opportunity for UK Retailer

This is an exceptional chance for a tax professional to join an in-house finance team of a major UK retailer and be groomed to become Head of Tax within 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of tax for the business, including direct and indirect tax.
  • Ensure compliance and tax reporting for entities in the UK and Ireland.
  • Provide tax support and due diligence on transactions, including timely integration of all tax matters arising from acquisitions.
  • Advise the business on capital allowances and other property-related tax issues.
  • Manage the Senior Accounting Officer documentation, including working with relevant teams in the business in the preparation and subsequent review of high-risk areas before presentation to the Group Finance Director.
  • Review the UK transfer pricing position and related documentation.
  • Build relationships within the business and with external advisors.
  • Support the Payroll and HR Departments with tax technical advice they need on employment issues.
  • Support the legal team on tax issues arising from contracts.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis, but several days a week in the office are needed. The ideal candidate will be a Group Tax Manager or Senior Manager looking for a step up to Head of Tax.

We would consider someone on a 4-day week with a plan of moving to 5 days in 2 years.
