About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Oncology and Haematology Triage Assessment Area as a Cancer Triage Specialist Practitioner. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled professional to make a real difference in the lives of patients.
Job Summary
This role involves providing expert telephone assessment and initiation of treatment plans for oncology and haematology patients, ensuring timely and effective care. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with clinicians, ward co-ordinators, and operational managers to develop and maintain systems for emergency admissions.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and think critically in fast-paced situations. You will be responsible for:
- Providing expert physical and telephone assessments to patients contacting or attending the Cancer and Haematology Centre;
- Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide clinical care, specialist nursing advice, and psychosocial support;
- Assessing health and psychosocial needs of individual patients and providing care to meet these needs through shared decision making;
- Developing and implementing treatment and care plans, including ordering clinical investigations and referring patients to other practitioners as required;
- Liaising closely with operational managers, ward co-ordinators, and wards to effectively manage emergency patient flow into cancer services.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A registered nurse qualification (part 1, 8, 12, or 15 of the register depending on the area of practice);
- Postgraduate level study or demonstrable postgraduate level working evidenced via a continuous professional development portfolio;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and think critically;
- Relevant specialist post-basic programme to Master's Level or equivalent.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this role is estimated to be around £42,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, annual leave, and training and development opportunities.
