Workshop Operations Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Controller to join our team at Steer Automotive in Edinburgh. As a Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our busy accident repair workshop, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are carried out efficiently, on time, and to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Management: Ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of all repair and service jobs within the accident repair bodyshop.
- Task Allocation: Distribute work based on technician expertise to optimize efficiency and resource use.
- Quality Control: Oversee quality checks to ensure all vehicle repairs meet industry and manufacturer standards.
- Communication: Serve as the link between service advisors and technicians, providing updates on vehicle repair progress to customers.
- Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safe working practices within the workshop.
- Inventory Management: Oversee parts stock levels and collaborate with the parts team to ensure smooth operations.
- Staff Development: Mentor and train technicians, fostering a positive, productive environment and addressing any training needs.
About You
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience as an MET, Panel, or Paint Technician within an accident repair setting, coupled with previous supervisory experience. You will need to have strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems and repair processes, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
