Clinical Lead Psychiatrist

The Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Lead Psychiatrist to join their Sarum Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established multi-disciplinary team that prioritizes collaborative work and patient-centered practice.
The post holder will play a key role in the CMHT, providing advice and assessment of patients under the Working Adult CMHT service. They will liaise and work closely with other local services and GPs to ensure seamless care delivery.
The Trust offers a weekly Academic programme, a monthly PDP group, and Peer Supervision. Additionally, CPD activities are supported, and study leave arrangements are in place. The post also provides opportunities for research, service development, and leadership.
Main Duties:
- Assess and treat service users in the community
- Undertake urgent and routine psychiatric assessments when necessary
- Liaise with GPs regarding a service user's medical monitoring results
- Liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non-NHS organizations wherever applicable
- Provide advice and consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary teams and regularly attend MDT meetings
- Ensure effective and timely documentation and communication of clinical decision-making and management plans

Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Relevant Higher Degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MSc) or other additional clinical qualifications
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
Eligibility:
- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Experience:
- Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting
Personal Skills:
- Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to manage own time, workload, and prioritize clinical work
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with patients, carers, and staff
Clinical Skills:
- Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in adults of working age and deal with crisis situations
Knowledge:
- Understanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a Consultant
Teaching:
- Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching
- Understanding of the principles of teaching
Research and Audit:
- Experience or involvement in a research project and publication
- Experience of carrying out an audit project
Management:
- Evidence of management/leadership skills training
