The Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing expert psychiatric care to our patients.
Main Responsibilities:- Assess and treat patients in a community setting, working closely with other healthcare professionals.
- Provide advice and consultation to members of the multidisciplinary team, attending regular meetings to discuss patient care.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans, ensuring timely and effective communication with patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies, ensuring best practice in psychiatric care.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Relevant higher degree, such as MD, PhD, or MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications.
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.
- Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage own time, workload, and prioritise clinical work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with patients, carers, and staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in adults of working age and deal with crisis situations.
- Understanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a Consultant.
- Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.
- Understanding of the principles of teaching.
- Experience or involvement in a research project and publication.
- Experience of carrying out an audit project.
- Evidence of management/leadership skills training.
