About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Engagement Specialist to join our team at Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines. As a key member of our membership development team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to support our recruitment efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:
    • Collaborate with schools and community organizations to identify engagement opportunities and develop strategies to increase new girl leads.
    • Distribute resources and attend virtual/in-person school events to promote our programs and services.
    • Schedule, host, and attend school and community events to address diverse community needs and ensure our membership reflects the community's racial, ethnic, and socio-economic diversity.
  • Recruitment and Conversion:
    • Attend community events to build and develop relationships with community leaders, schools, organizations, and businesses to support recruitment efforts.
    • Establish and nurture contacts with new girl and adult leads to solidify new member growth and engagement.
    • Ensure girl and adult leads are converted into memberships and girls are placed in troops.
    • Serve as a role model and Girl Scout representative to girls and adults.
  • Program Delivery:
    • Deliver fun, engaging activities that meet the curriculum goals and objectives.
    • Manage classroom environments and ensure a safe and inclusive space for girls.
    • Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement program plans and materials.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Manage and maintain accurate records and reports related to community engagement and recruitment efforts.
    • Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. education, communications, business) or equivalent experience.
    • At least 2 years of experience in community engagement, recruitment, or program delivery.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
    • Basic knowledge of Girl Scout program and curriculum.
    • Ability to travel to sites within the council's jurisdiction.
