Job Summary:

Gleeson Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team in the production area of a manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive manufacturing and be able to lead a team of Team Leaders to drive continuous improvements and ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Regularly review and update existing risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead Team Development: Manage the performance, absenteeism, disciplinary matters, and grievance issues of a group of Team Leaders.
  • Drive Continuous Improvements: Develop and implement strategies to improve housekeeping, plan adherence, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), problem-solving, and continuous improvement (CI) activities across the facility.
  • Manage Headcount: Ensure adequate skilled staffing levels and align operational heads with the latest RTO requirements.
  • Oversee Overtime: Manage overtime requirements within budgetary limits.
  • Lead Engineering Changes: Introduce engineering changes or new products across the facility, ensuring relevant quality documentation is available and approved.
  • Manufacturing Accountability: Lead the daily Manufacturing Accountability meeting with cross-functional teams.
  • Shift Reports: Ensure shift reports are completed on time, detailing health and safety, quality performance, and production issues.
  • Escalation: Act as the first point of escalation for shop floor teams and customers regarding quality issues, machine breakdowns, and supply shortages.
  • Support: Provide continual management support, including weekends, to meet business needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Automotive / Manufacturing Management experience.
  • Production Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing of Metal Works experience.
