Launch Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the NPI / production readiness and launch process for a major international automotive group. This organisation has recently won several significant new automotive contracts and is looking for a skilled professional to manage the delivery of new products through manufacturing & tooling feasibility to successful production introduction and product launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project manage delivery of new product through manufacturing & tooling feasibility to successful production introduction and product launch.
  2. Lead PFMEA & quality control plan completion and approval.
  3. Coordinate packing specifications & trials to sign-off.
  4. Coordinate creation and sign-off of SOP and maintenance needs.
  5. Lead process sign-off & run @ rate trials.
  6. Coordinate component supplies & suppliers prior to MBOM release.
  7. Project management – lead launch meetings and weekly reporting.
  8. Advanced Quality Planning, including customer sign-off and Process sign-off on the program.

Requirements:

  1. We are seeking an experienced engineer with either Project, Manufacturing or Launch experience gained in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  2. Proven New Product Introduction (NPI) or production launch experience.
  3. Engineering, Technical or Science BTEC/Degree/MSc qualified or equivalent, with demonstrable automotive manufacturing experience.
  4. Project/Programme management.
  5. Quality tools – APQP/PPAP/control plans.
  6. Strong planning and coordination skills.
  7. Good communication and influencing ability.

About the Opportunity: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NPI Project Engineer or Launch Engineer to join a global automotive supplier who are both winning and quoting for significant new business. This position is being offered as a fixed term contract of employment, initially for a 2 year duration.
