About the Role:

This role supports classroom instructors by performing various duties, including supervising students, preparing instructional materials, conducting demonstrations, and leading tutorials.

  • Provides guidance and support to students related to procedures, techniques, methodologies, grading, and course content matters.
  • Maintains inventory of program materials and supplies, conducts periodic inventory counts, and ensures accuracy.
  • Performs general administrative duties, maintains records, produces photocopies, enlarges materials, and updates database of instructional resources.

Salary: $28.00 per hour, paid hourly.

Requirements:

We seek an experienced candidate with:

  • Grade 12 plus additional specialized training of over 2 years and over 1 year related experience in community programs offering Sign Language instruction to the hearing public or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
  • Native Signer of ASL with English as a Second Language.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to understand and use other sign or oral communication methods.
  • Considerable knowledge of program course content, instructional equipment, and materials, as well as various procedures, techniques, and methodologies of classroom management.
  • Sound knowledge of the standard uses of an audio-visual Sign Language lab and the operation and routine maintenance of its apparatus, equipment, and aids employed.
  • Good model of American Sign Language of the Deaf.
  • Proficiency with computers.
Working Conditions:
