Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Bank Porter, you will work as a multi-skilled member of the team providing high-level support to the hospital, covering various duties such as courier, portering, theatre, cleaning, and security tasks.

Driver Duties:

  • To collect and transport equipment between Spire hospitals, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the condition of hospital vehicles.
  • To collect and transport bloods and specimens to and from the Pathology Laboratory, prioritizing accuracy and efficiency.
  • To collect and transport mail, notes, equipment, and other requested items between the Hospital, Dunedin satellite site, and external associated sites, maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • To drive hospital vehicles while completing duties, ensuring a high level of safety and maintaining the condition of vehicles.
  • The post holder will be required to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota system, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

General Porter Duties:

  • To collect, sort, and deliver internal and external mail as required between all sites, ensuring prompt delivery and maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • To remove clinical and non-clinical waste from all areas, disposing of and/or storing it appropriately, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • To assist in the delivery, collection, and storage of medical gases, monitoring gas levels and changing over as required, ensuring a high level of safety.
  • To assist with the unloading of heavy deliveries, demonstrating physical ability and a willingness to help.
  • To ensure the car park and surrounding areas are clear of litter, maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
