Job Title: Study Skills Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Study Skills Support Specialist to join our team at Randstad. As a Study Skills Support Specialist, you will work closely with students who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Manchester.

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role that requires flexibility to travel to local Universities or colleges and offer both in-person and online sessions to meet student preferences. Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalised academic support and guidance to students, developing a customised learning plan tailored to their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop independence in learning
  • Build on strengths and learning strategies
  • Create strategies around organisation and time management
  • Create action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
  • Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
  • Dyslexia Guild
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
