Job Title: Study Skills Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Study Skills Support Specialist to join our team at Randstad Student Support. As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide personalized academic support and guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Manchester.

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role that requires flexibility to meet student preferences. You will work with students to develop a customized learning plan, fostering their independence in learning. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing independence in students
  • Building on strengths and learning strategies
  • Creating strategies around organisation and time management
  • Creating action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Building on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
  • Distinguishing appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Building on comprehension skills within reading and writing

You will work closely with students to identify their needs and develop a tailored approach to support their academic success. Your expertise and guidance will help students to build on their learning strengths and maintain a confidential and professional working relationship.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
  • Dyslexia Guild
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
