Nuclear Safety Physicist

We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety Physicist to join our team in Derby. As a key member of the Radiation Physics and Shielding team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of submarine reactor plants through radiation physics analysis and risk management.
The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in a relevant engineering or scientific subject and knowledge of the fission process, neutron, and gamma transport theory. You will also need excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
The estimated salary for this position is £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include paid overtime, generous holiday allocation, pension plan, company bonus, share schemes, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of submarine reactor plants through radiation physics analysis and risk management
- Deliver delegated major technical work packages to agreed time, quality, and cost
- Monitor progress, identify and manage risks, and provide regular updates on project progress
