Band 7 Specialist Dietitian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced dietitian to join our Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) as a Highly Specialist Weight Management Dietitian. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing highly specialist advice, intervention, education, and support to patients, carers, and other health professionals.
Main Responsibilities:- Work autonomously, planning your own workload within professional guidelines and policies to manage a caseload of patients with extremely complex needs.
- Responsible for the specialist training of other dietitians within weight management and will supervise students.
- Management of patients who have complex medical and emotional needs with high demand for care and interventions.
- To undertake the nutritional assessment of patients pre- and post-bariatric surgery to ensure that patients are nutritionally fit for surgery, and do not become malnourished following bariatric surgery.
- To take responsibility for ongoing clinical excellence through evidence-based practice and development of standards, policies, and guidelines in conjunction with the trust's standards.
- Teaching and training on dietetic aspects of weight as required.

Based in an acute hospital setting, we also have close links to the Bariatric Surgery Service and are housed within the same building as the large Clinical Health Psychology.
Person Specification:- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate clinical education, i.e. behaviour change training, surgical intervention for obesity, management of diabetes.
- Extensive post-registration experience, including 6 months in general weight management and a minimum of 1 year using behaviour change techniques to support lifestyle changes.
- Advanced Diploma of Dietetics.
- Experience in treating patients with type 2 diabetes including knowledge of insulin treatments.
