We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role presents a unique opportunity to work with deaf children and their families, providing expert mental health care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

About the Role

This position requires a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities Paediatrics or Adult, BSc/degree/SW Dip/AMHP or other professional registered qualification. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in mental health, with excellent clinical skills to effectively carry out assessments and use evidence-based practice and interventions when working with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated, with a willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL) skills to work within a bilingual Team of deaf and hearing professionals. As a car driver is essential for this post, applicants must have access to their own vehicle and be willing to travel across the North West of England and occasionally across the North of England.

Job Responsibilities

The successful applicant will become a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, working with Interpreters, Specialist Deaf Outreach Workers, Administrators, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrists, and Managers. The team follows a 'Working Together' Model, where clinicians work with deaf colleagues and BSL/English Interpreters, bringing a unique perspective to each case.

Key responsibilities include carrying out assessments and interventions with deaf children and their families, liaising with other professionals, and contributing to the development of care plans. Experience in care planning, managing safeguarding concerns, and mental health risk assessment & management is essential.
