Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6/Band 7 Dietitian to join our dynamic team at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH). The Dietetic Department is part of the Therapies group, working closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech & Language Therapists.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical services to the critical care unit and the Nutrition Team.
  • Lead the dietetic surgical team, working closely with the current Band 7 dietitian for critical care.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures for critical care services.
  • Participate in research and audit initiatives within critical care and the wider Dietetic Service.
  • Contribute to the Nutrition Team and provide cover for other specialist services areas as needed.
  • Lead on education programs for patients and staff within and outside the Trust.
  • Develop critical care education resources and update critical care policies and procedures.

Person Specification
  • Essential criteria:
    • BSc in Dietetics or equivalent degree.
    • State Registered Dietitian with HPC.
    • BDA member.
    • BDA member of the specialist group, critical care group network.
  • Desirable criteria:
    • Non-medical prescribing qualification registered with HCPC BDA.
    • Postgraduate diploma in advanced dietetic practice or equivalent in BDA postgraduate courses equivalent to Master's degree.

  • Ability to provide highly specialized treatment packages and plan monitoring.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and decide on treatment plans.
  • Ability to supervise students and junior staff.
  • Ability to communicate complex information and problem-solve.
  • Teaching and presentation skills for individuals and groups.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and liaise with professionals at all levels.
  • Use of software packages, including Word, Excel, and nutritional assessment packages.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility, assertiveness, and accurate record-keeping.
