Nationwide, the world's largest building society, is seeking an experienced Strategic Change Oversight Specialist to join its Operational Risk Oversight team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide risk oversight of key strategic change programmes and support the Head of Operational Risk Oversight (Change) in the independent Second Line Risk function.

About the Role

This is a critical position within Nationwide's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, where understanding and managing change risk effectively is essential. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, regulatory, and conduct risks associated with strategic change initiatives.

As a Strategic Change Oversight Specialist, you will spend at least two days per week working from either our Swindon or London office, providing assurance to executive management and the risk leadership on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management across your programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide risk oversight of key strategic change programmes, identifying and mitigating operational, regulatory, and conduct risks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that key programme and project risks are sufficiently prominent and accounted for.
  • Undertake oversight activities, including close and continuous oversight, and formal oversight reviews as required.
  • Assess business area compliance against the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with partners across the 3LOD to simplify and strengthen project risk management practices.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A demonstrable track record of leading projects/programmes and/or oversighting them with a good level of IT technical understanding within a retail banking/financial services firm.
  • Experience of working as a Programme or Project Manager.
  • Demonstrable experience of assessing business area compliance against the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) requirements.
What We Offer

Nationwide offers a competitive salary package, including a pension scheme, life assurance, and access to annual performance-related bonuses. As a Strategic Change Oversight Specialist, you can expect a salary in the range of £70,000 - £90,000, depending on your experience and qualifications.

We value our employees' growth and development, offering access to training and opportunities for career progression. Our hybrid working approach allows for flexibility, balancing home working with time spent in our offices to solve problems, learn, and feel connected.
