Strategic Marketing Director

Valeo Snackfoods is a leading UK grocery brand, with a portfolio that includes Kettle Foods, Tangerine, Big Bear, and Metcalfe's popcorn. Headquartered in Norwich and Pontefract, the company employs over 2,000 people and generates revenues of over £280 million.
This Brand Manager position plays a crucial role in delivering brand plans within a category group that encompasses both Valeo-owned and retailer-owned brands. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading initiatives and providing strong stewardship to drive business results.
The role is based at our Wallingford site and requires a hybrid work arrangement, with approximately two-thirds of working hours spent on-site.
Key Responsibilities- Budget target achievement: Hit or exceed budget targets within the category group.
- Initiative stewardship: Provide strong leadership and guidance to ensure successful implementation of brand plans.
- Monthly reporting: Deliver high-quality, board-level reports on initiative progress and performance.
- Brand framework development: Contribute to the creation and consistent application of a 'Valeo Brand Building Framework.'
- Annual strategy review: Participate in the annual review process to shape the company's strategic direction.
- Quarterly updates: Lead quarterly updates on initiative progress and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Marketing budget optimization: Ensure effective management and optimization of marketing budgets across core marketing, ASOH, and shopper marketing.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to drive business success.
- External representation: Represent the brand externally, particularly with retailers, to promote Valeo's interests.
- Consumer engagement: Oversee and inspire the 'Consumer is Boss' plan, ensuring regular connections with consumers.
- Leadership skills: Demonstrated ability to shape, align, and plan teams towards common goals.
- Analytical thinking: Strong analytical mindset to inform business decisions.
- Change management: Capacity to create and adapt to change while maintaining a 'Personal Best' mindset.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with others, including telling people what they need to hear.
- Adaptability: Good adaptability to operate effectively across various levels of the organization.
- Presentation skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Marketing expertise: Strong experience with the full marketing mix, from insight generation to measurement.

- NPD and Go-to-market: Experience with new product development, go-to-market strategies, and internal/external engagement around brand plans.
Estimated salary range: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
