Job Title: Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join our dynamic team at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking individual to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care in our Intensive Care Unit. As a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine, you will be responsible for providing expert medical care to critically ill patients, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and participating in the development of clinical policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill patients.
  • Lead a team of healthcare professionals, including junior doctors, nurses, and other support staff.
  • Participate in the development of clinical policies and procedures, ensuring that they are evidence-based and aligned with national guidelines.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives, including the development of new treatments and protocols.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Full registration with the GMC with a valid license to practice.
  • FFICM or EDIC & MRCP or equivalent.
  • Entry on to the specialist register in ICM & GIM or eligibility within 6 months.
  • Possession of / eligibility for Fellowship / Associate Fellowship of Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Registers.
