About the Role

The Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intensive Care Consultant to join our team. As a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine/Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for participating in the Intensive Care Consultant on-call rota and 'Hot Week system' as well as completing regular sessions in your dual specialty.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform all the duties and have all responsibilities of a Consultant Intensivist.
  • Participate in the Intensive Care Consultant on-call rota and 'Hot Week system'.
  • Complete regular sessions in your dual specialty.

Requirements

  • Full registration with the GMC with valid license to practice.
  • FFICM, EDIC or equivalent.
  • CCT or eligibility within 6 months.
  • Possession of / eligibility for Fellowship / Associate Fellowship of Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Dual CCT or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Medical Education.
  • Membership of professional societies.

Experience

  • Practical experience in the management of critical care patients.
  • Previous appointments that have provided professional training in Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Proven experience of Audit and Quality Improvement with evidence of change.
  • Understanding of management responsibilities of a Consultant.
  • Ability to work in a team with professional colleagues, both medical and non-medical, and other Departments.
  • Evidence of commitment to CPD.

Skills

  • Practical experience in a complementary specialty.

Knowledge

  • Evidence of participation in and a commitment to teaching.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date literature.

  • Able to facilitate multi-site working.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.
  • Committed to high quality patient care.
  • Committed to developing the service.
  • Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e. with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation.
