About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified mental health practitioner to lead our team of therapists and link workers in delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing moderate mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive assessment and formulation of presenting problems, taking into account the child's educational attainment, chronological and developmental stage, inner world, and mental health and wellbeing of parents/carers.
  • Design and deliver short-term interventions using behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, and systemic perspectives, as indicated by the formulation and needs of the client.
  • Supervise team members in the delivery of therapeutic interventions, working independently and adapting to suit service needs.
  • Develop and implement alternatives to one-to-one therapeutic work, group work, and play therapy.
  • Facilitate peer support with and for children and young people.
  • Maintain confidential case notes and records, ensuring timely and secure storage using specified case management systems.
  • Develop links to other agencies and services, with a good understanding of local services for signposting and onward referrals.
  • Manage risk and respond proactively to child protection and safeguarding issues.
Requirements
  • Professional registration with a recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, BACP, BABCP, BASW, TRA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT qualification), or other therapy qualifications.
  • Significant post-qualification experience, with confidence in triage and assessment of children and young people, and supporting interventions for those presenting mild to moderate risk behaviours.
  • Knowledge of safety factors in managing self-harming behaviours, and a good working knowledge of principles underlying psychodynamic, systemic, cognitive, and behavioural therapies.
  • Minimum of 2-year experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, with ability to manage a caseload and support counsellors effectively.
  • Ability to recognise and respond to concerns about child protection and safeguarding, and make use of supervision.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child emotional wellbeing and early mental health clinical evidence-based practice and support for parents/carers.
