Design Engineer - Electric Powertrain

Forseven, a pioneering company in the electric vehicle industry, is seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer - Electric Powertrain to join our dynamic Vehicle Electrification Team. This role will be reporting into the Engineering Manager - Powertrain Design and will be based in our offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high voltage powertrain systems for battery electric vehicles, including thermal management systems, EDU, transmission and driveline integration, and associated components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to optimize powertrain performance, efficiency, and thermal management.
  • Work with the validation team to specify system-level testing, validation, and debugging to ensure powertrain performance meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and continuous improvement in powertrain design.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in electric vehicle technology, industry trends, and best practices to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements:
  • Experience of Electric Powertrains (Battery to Driveshaft) or similar discipline within an automotive engineering environment.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in CAD Software packages, Catia V5/V6 preferred.
  • Exposure and familiarity with simulation tools such as FEA, 1D, etc.
  • Understanding of electric powertrain architectures and underlying principles and technologies, including thermal management, HV harnessing, electrical safety systems, serviceability, and control strategies.
  • Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP, etc.) and full product lifecycle activities.
  • An understanding of the V-Cycle and its application in an automotive environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
