Electrical Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:- Support the development and integration of electrical systems for the Chassis and Powertrain function groups, ensuring seamless implementation into the vehicle electrical architecture.
- Design electrical integration aspects of Chassis and Powertrain functions, aligning with vehicle requirements, Functional Safety standards, and certification requirements.
- Develop systems for distributed functions, signal database requirements, and interaction with UI systems related to Chassis and Powertrain.
- Ensure control units and peripherals are correctly located and packaged according to installation and wiring requirements.
- Manage supplier technical deliverables, project plans, and open issues decks for assigned systems.
- Comply with legislative, certification, environmental, and EMC requirements.
- Collaborate with technical partners and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver software features and functions against systems designs, ensuring compliance with process-driven development.
- Prepare SFMEA documents covering assigned systems.
- Participate in system review, verification, and validation activities, including FMEAs, DVP planning, ISO26262 functional safety, EMC, and other tests throughout the development lifecycle.
- Conduct hands-on electrical development and testing in collaboration with testing and validation colleagues, identifying and resolving faults, and managing issues to closure.
- Manage Tier 1 supplier relationships, working with Procurement and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments, developing service procedures and diagnostic functionality.
- Significant relevant experience in electrical systems or component delivery within an automotive engineering environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of electrical architectures and underlying network and diagnostic technologies.
- Experience in project engineering with Tier 1 suppliers, preparation of project documentation and reports, risk management, mitigation, and recovery planning.
- Working knowledge of CAN, LIN networks, and vehicle diagnostics essential (other vehicle networks, such as FlexRay, automotive ethernet, advantageous).
- Experience in system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, DVP, quality planning, PPAP, etc.) and full product lifecycle activities.
- Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.
- Able to take ownership of assigned systems for delivery through to production.
- Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or similar honours engineering degree. Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
