About the Role

GSL Education - Leicester is seeking passionate graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies to join a specialist school as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children who have an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) for a variety of conditions, including trauma, ADHD, ADD, OCD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Work with a large provision of 60 children, boys, and girls, aged 5-16.
Key Requirements
  • A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies.
  • A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
