About the Role

The St George's Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Freedom of Information and Compliance Officer to join its team. As a key member of the Corporate Governance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Trust's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and other relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the Trust's Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses to requestors.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on FOI legislation and Information Commissioner's guidance.
  • Review and allocate FOI requests to relevant managers and senior managers, ensuring compliance with the Trust's FOI policy.
  • Track the progress of FOI requests and ensure timely responses are sent to requestors.
  • Draft high-quality responses to FOIs, assessing the information being provided and any possible harm resulting from its release.
  • Maintain a log of FOI requests and responses, providing analytical information on request.
  • Provide FOI administrative tasks, such as producing correspondence, reports, and creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
  • Support the production of monthly activity reports on FOI performance.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in dealing with FOI requests in a large and complex organization.
  • Understanding of FOI legislation.
