Freedom of Information and Compliance Officer

The Freedom of Information and Compliance Officer will provide a comprehensive support function ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act. This role will involve managing and maintaining a register of requests, working with colleagues to ensure timely responses, and providing support to the Freedom of Information Manager and the Group Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs in managing policy compliance and declarations of interest compliance across the Group.
Main Responsibilities- Support the day-to-day management of all Freedom of Information requests across the Group, escalating matters to the Freedom of Information Manager as needed.
- Log all incoming Freedom of Information requests on the Group's electronic Freedom of Information management system.
- Monitor the Freedom of Information inbox, ensuring incoming messages are appropriately managed and responded to in a timely way.
- Review new Freedom of Information requests, triage, and allocate requests to the appropriate and relevant managers and senior managers in line with the Group's Freedom of Information policy.
- Provide advice to staff regarding the application of Freedom of Information legislation and Information Commissioner's guidance.
- Track the progress of Freedom of Information requests to ensure timely responses are sent to requestors, and that the Group (and the two sovereign Trusts within it) are compliant with the statutory deadlines for responding to Freedom of Information requests.
- Draft high-quality responses to Freedom of Information requests, assessing the information being provided and any possible harm resulting from its release, and securing appropriate senior manager sign-off in line with the Group's Freedom of Information policy.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its sites at St George's Hospital in Tooting, Queen Mary Hospital in Roehampton, and Epsom Hospital.
