Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented R&D Technician to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited. As a key member of our crop protection team, you will play a crucial role in assisting our scientists with day-to-day duties, learning about the agrochemical markets, and contributing to the development of innovative crop protection products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist our team with day-to-day duties, including learning about the agrochemical markets and the key role we play in pursuing a more economical and sustainable future for crop protection.
  • Screen fungicide, insecticide, and herbicide screenings, including learning about key fungal pathogens, insect behaviors, and weed species.
  • Handle the preparation work for herbicide and insecticide screenings, including learning about key weed and insect species, germinating, propagating, and cropping seeds.
  • Learn and apply current protocols and formulations for screenings, including sample preparations and final applications of novel compounds.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative crop protection products, working closely with our scientists and team members.

Requirements

  • HNC or HND degree level or equivalent in Biology, Microbiology, or Plant Science.
  • Good all-round knowledge of Biology and demonstrable application of these skills into practical work.
  • PA1 certification for safe handling of pesticides.
  • Good observation skills, handiness, and comfort working with crop protection products.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work consistently to required standards.
  • Good IT skills for data handling.
  • Ability to work in a small team and autonomously.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Macclesfield).
